Part 2: Family Activities that Instill……. Co-operation

March 19, 2021 by Natacha Latouf

I once heard of a great acronym for TEAM, which I often recall to client’s of mine: Together Everyone Achieves More. That is what teamwork is all about…., working together to achieve more and being more effective in fulfilling the task.

Parents often find that they want their children to be more part of the family (team) and contributing and co-operating, be it in the household chores or your usual typical routines, like family dinners, outings and games. Basically it’s about doing it TOGETHER! Each one contributing their skill, knowledge, energy and enthusiasm. And of course, appreciating each one’s input.

I love the way Wikipedia defines Co-operation: “Cooperation is the process of groups of organisms working or acting together for common, mutual, or some underlying benefit, as opposed to working in competition for selfish benefit. Many animal and plant species cooperate both with other members of their own species and with members of other species.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooperation

So help teach your children to benefit working together rather than being selfish. Sesame Street says it or sings it better….co-op…, co-op…, co-ooooperation!!! Here is a simple video showing what co-operation is all about, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kihZUsADQTQ

Now, try these activities out with your children to help teach and implement and instill CO-OPERATION!

Let me know how effective the TEAM was.

Have fun!

We have all grown up understanding that we are not the same as everyone else (not even amongst our siblings). We may be similar in some ways but not the same, therefore…. DIFFERENT!

SOCIAL DISTANCING ACTIVITIES: still keeping the fun, interaction and connection going.

June 16, 2020 by Natacha Latouf

Social distancing as we know it now is to prevent the spread of the virus. We have to come to accept that. But we are humans and the primary function of survival in humans is having a social connection and interaction with others. We rely on a foundation of relationships but social distancing is disrupting our social connections and this disconnection is spreading something other than the virus… emotional distress and trauma within ourselves.
